Low back pain
The most common reason people walk through the door, from a stiff morning back to pain that stops you sitting, lifting or sleeping.
What we treat
Chronic headaches, neck pain, back pain and the pinched nerves that go with them make up most of the work. Sports injuries of every kind are a particular interest. Here is what to expect for each, in plain terms.
Conditions
The most common reason people walk through the door, from a stiff morning back to pain that stops you sitting, lifting or sleeping.
Stiffness, restricted turning, pain that runs into the shoulders, and the strain of long hours at a desk or on a phone.
Chronic and recurring headaches often start in the neck. Treating the cause tends to work better than managing the symptom.
Pain, tingling or numbness that travels into an arm or a leg, with the back or neck as the source.
Running, cycling, swimming, racquet sports, surfing and school sport. Assessed properly, treated hands on, and a plan to get you back.
Posture is the window to the spine. Additional training in posture advice and correction, so the fix lasts.
Posture
How you stand, sit and move is a good indication of general health and of what is going on in the spine underneath.Dr Dean has additional training in posture advice and correction, so treatment comes with practical changes to how you sit at a desk, hold a phone, train and sleep. That is usually the difference between a fix that lasts and one that does not.
Treatments
Chiropractic adjustment is the core of it. Depending on what the assessment finds, other techniques are added so the muscles and tissue around a joint recover with it.
Hands-on treatment of the spine and joints to restore movement and take the pressure off irritated nerves. Thorough, and specific to what was found in your assessment.
Fine needles into tight muscle knots to release them. Used alongside adjustments when muscle tension is part of the problem.
Gentle, controlled stretching of the spine to ease pressure on discs and nerves, in various forms depending on the condition.
Support and feedback for a joint or muscle while it recovers, and for athletes who need to keep training or competing.
Hands-on techniques for the muscles and connective tissue around a problem area, so the joint has room to move well again.
Practical changes to how you sit, stand, train and sleep, from additional training in posture correction.
X-rays
Most patients never need an X-ray. Where there has been trauma, or a problem keeps coming back, an X-ray may be necessary before treatment so that what is being treated is clear. If you already have X-rays, scans or reports, bring them to your first appointment.
Sports injuries
From running and cycling to racquet sports and surfing, sports injuries of all types are assessed and treated here, with taping and strapping where you need to keep training.
